Report shows record 81 Muslim-American terrorism cases in 2015

A new report by UNC sociology professor Charles Kurzman documents an unprecedented number of Muslim-Americans associated with violent extremism in 2015, with most of the cases involving travel or attempted travel to join militants in Syria. The number of cases dropped off sharply in the second half of the year.

Ocean researcher to deliver Doctoral Hooding address

Samantha Joye, a leading researcher on the impact of oil and gas seepage in deep ocean environments, will give the keynote address at UNC-Chapel Hill’s 2016 Doctoral Hooding Ceremony. The event recognizes graduate students receiving their doctoral degrees and is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 7 at the Dean E. Smith Center, 300 Bowles Drive.
