UNC sociologist Howard Aldrich will receive an honorary degree from Mid Sweden University on Oct. 10.
Aldrich is the Kenan Professor and chair of the department of sociology in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences and an adjunct professor of management, entrepreneurship and strategy at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Aldrich is among five honorary degree recipients who will be recognized for excellence in their fields of study. His research interests include evolutionary entrepreneurship; organizations, occupations and work; economic sociology and inequality. He has been at UNC since 1982.
Mid Sweden University has multiple campuses in Härnösand, Sundsvall and Östersund. Aldrich participated in Mid Sweden University’s Entrepreneurship Days in 2013 and has contributed to research and education efforts there. In 2000, he received the Entrepreneurship Researcher of the Year Award from the Swedish Foundation of Small Business Research.
