Before you watch North Carolina’s football team play Saturday, take a bit of time to learn more about what’s inside those helmets.
Kevin Guskiewicz — Kenan Distinguished Professor, Co-Director of the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center and Director of the Center for the Study of Retired Athletes in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science – will be the latest speaker at the UNC-Chapel Hill Game Day Lecture Series on Oct. 18.
Guskiewicz is also senior associate dean for natural sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.
His topic, “Get Inside the Helmet: Understanding Football Head Injury Protection,” will address Carolina’s cutting-edge research on sport-related concussions.
The lecture will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History. It is free and open to the public.
