Donna Bickford, associate director of UNC’s Office for Undergraduate Research, has been elected to the Council on Undergraduate Research.
She also is an adjunct assistant professor in the departments of English, and women’s and gender studies.
Bickford will serve a three-year term as a councilor in the Undergraduate Research Program Directors division.
The Council on Undergraduate Research supports and promotes high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship. Founded in 1978, the Council is a national organization of individual and institutional members representing more than 900 colleges and universities.
Bickford directed the Carolina Women’s Center at UNC from 2006 to 2011. Prior to her arrival at Carolina in June 2006, she served as a lecturer in women’s studies at the University of Rhode Island for six years. She was named a Fulbright Scholar in fall 2003 and taught at Abo Akademi University in Turku, Finland.
She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in English from the University of Rhode Island and her B.A. from Eastern Connecticut State University.
