UNC junior Colin Kantor of Keller, Texas, was awarded a 2015 Ambassadors Walter and
Leonore Annenberg Fellowship from the Council of American Ambassadors.
Kantor is pursuing majors in Germanic and Slavic languages and literatures; and peace, war and defense. He is also pursuing a history minor.
Kantor was recognized for his academic achievements and leadership experience. His honors include selection for the Burch Honors Field Research Seminar in Vienna and the Balkans, and receiving the Foreign Language Area Studies fellowship to pursue advanced Russian language study in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has served as an opinion writer for The Daily Tar Heel and a staff writer for The Hill Political Review (Chapel Hill).
This summer, Kantor will receive mentoring from The Honorable Thomas L. Siebert, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden. Kantor will also pursue advanced academic coursework while serving as an intern at the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
The CAA Fellowship is a program of the Council of American Ambassadors created to foster the development of the next generation of American diplomats. Of the CAA Fellows selected each year, six are named Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg Fellows.
