An international team of scientists has announced a breakthrough in its quest to measure the mass of the neutrino, one of the most abundant, yet elusive, elementary particles in our universe. The KATRIN experiment is based at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany and involves international collaborators including UNC-Chapel Hill.
