Seniors Tell All: Gabriel Whaley

A former varsity letterman for the U.S. Army men’s soccer team at West Point, Gabriel Whaley has long harbored a greater goal. Growing up, his family couldn’t afford soccer camps — the focus was putting food on the table. So Whaley founded Kicking4Hunger Inc., a nonprofit that runs soccer camps and clinics for kids throughout North Carolina.

Two UNC students receive Luce scholarships for study in Asia

Amber Micole Koonce and Cody Mitchell Poplin have earned 2012-2013 scholarships from the Henry Luce Foundation in New York City. The Luce scholarship funds a year of living and learning in East and Southeast Asia for recent college graduates with no prior experience of the continent.
