“Mathematics has always had a healthy staff, but my sense is that the morale in the staff is better than it has ever been, and I am certain that she is directly to be thanked for this,” McLaughlin wrote about Inman in his nomination letter. “Our mathematics staff I believe is operating at the highest level, and she should be viewed as a model for the University to follow in making things work so effectively.”

Inman has worked at the university for over 26 years. She began her UNC career in the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication, spent 17 years in the department of orthopedics at the UNC School of Medicine, and joined the College of Arts and Sciences in 2006.
