Gil to step down as arts and sciences dean in 2015

Karen M. Gil, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, has announced that she has decided to step down at the end of the academic year to return to teaching in the department of psychology.

A collaborative art: the making of ‘Johnny Johnson’

“Johnny Johnson” is a play written by Paul Green with music by Kurt Weill. It is part of the campuswide “A Year-Long Conversation: World War I – The Legacy” sponsored by the Institute for the Arts and Humanities and College of Arts and Sciences. The show runs Nov. 20-24.

Recently Selected Phillips Ambassadors Recognized at Fall Dinner

Nine recently selected Phillips Ambassadors were honored at the annual Phillips Ambassadors fall dinner, held at the Carolina Inn on Nov. 4. The students, all University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill undergraduates, were awarded a $5,000 scholarship each for study abroad in Asia during the Spring 2015 semester. The students will be studying throughout Asia, including China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
