Winston-Salem wins diversity award as part of Latino Migration Project initiative

The City of Winston-Salem was honored with a 2017 City Cultural Diversity Award from the National League of Cities. The award was given in recognition of the Winston-Salem BIC Newcomers’ Pipeline. BIC, or Building Integrated Communities, is an initiative of the The Latino Migration Project and is supported by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.

Women in Science Wednesday: Noelle Romero

Noelle Romero is the program coordinator for the Chancellor’s Science Scholars and UNC-PROPS. In August 2016, she successfully defended her thesis within the Curriculum in Genetics & Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on how to prevent problems that arise from damaged DNA, such as cancer, through studying Fancm, a protein that helps repair it.
