Public invited to attend campus Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 12

The annual Veterans Day ceremony at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will occur Nov. 12, the day after the Sunday holiday.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Hill Hall, 145 E. Cameron Ave.

The public is invited to attend what is believed to be the only Veterans Day ceremony in Chapel Hill. Veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized as the conflict in which they served is named.

This year’s speaker will be retired Navy Commander Marv McWherter of Mebane, quartermaster for Chapel Hill Post 9100 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sponsors of the ceremony are the Army, Air Force and Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at UNC.
