The 2017-2018 academic year marks the 10th anniversary of the FedEx Global Education Center. On Nov. 30, the center hosted a reception in recognition of this milestone, reflecting on Carolina’s global achievements and honoring the faculty, staff and alumni who have been an instrumental part of UNC’s international activity.

UNC-Chapel Hill Research Exceeds $1 Billion Annually for First Time

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has surpassed, for the first time, $1 billion in annual research expenditures, according to the nation’s annual Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) survey. This news continues UNC-Chapel Hill’s decade-long rise as one of the world’s top universities for sponsored research.

Yaiza Canzani is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics within the UNC College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on understanding the behavior of wave functions that solve Schrodinger’s equation — the mathematical formulation for studying the energy levels of quantum mechanical systems like atoms.

Eric Sklut’s love for Carolina began at an early age, when he told his parents after a trip to Chapel Hill at age 13 that UNC was where he was going to college. His love for Carolina has continued through the years, as a proud 1980 alumnus and father of two UNC graduates, and through his family’s involvement with the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies.
