PlayMakers is the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Special events associated with the show begin Feb. 9.<\/p>\n<p>When a man discovers an environmental threat to his community, challenged by city fathers and fellow citizens more concerned with the financial health of the town than its physical well-being, he is forced to stand alone. He courageously exposes corruption and lies threatening to destroy the home he loves. At PlayMakers, Quaintance has directed \u201cThe Little Prince\u201d and co-directed \u201cThe Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby\u201d with producing artistic director Joseph Haj. He also helmed PlayMakers Summer Youth Conservatory productions of \u201cSweeney Todd,\u201d \u201cThe Mystery of Edwin Drood,\u201d A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream,\u201d \u201cThe Music Man\u201d and \u201cOliver!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Performances will be in the Paul Green Theatre in UNC-Chapel Hill\u2019s Department of Dramatic Art on Country Club Road. The event is free and open to the public. Participants share coffee and hors d\u2019oeuvres provided by series sponsor Jujube Restaurant, learn about the vision for the show and get a sneak peek at the sets and costumes in progress.
