PRC<sup>2<\/sup> performances are presented in the Elizabeth Price Kenan Theatre at UNC\u2019s Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket prices start at $15. Subscription packages including PRC\u00b2 shows are also available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRC\u00b2 productions for 2014-2015<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Rodney King\u2019 by Roger Guenveur Smith: Sept. 2-7, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coming to PlayMakers from acclaimed runs in New York and Washington, D.C., \u201cRodney King\u201d is a poetic,\u00a0rhythm-charged look at the flawed everyman behind the myth. King endured police brutality, the glare of an unrelenting media and notoriety as the symbolic spark of the LA riots. His plaintive \u201cCan we all get along?\u201d remains an open question in America\u2019s complicated relationship with race.<\/p>\n<p>A critic has said that actor\/solo performer Smith \u201clikes his topics hot.\u201d His one-man stage shows include \u201cA Huey P. Newton Story\u201d and \u201cFrederick Douglass Now.\u201d Screen credits include Spike Lee\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0024EWP9O?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B0024EWP9O&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=thewaspos09-20\">Do the Right Thing<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000051YMP?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B000051YMP&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=thewaspos09-20\">Get on the Bus<\/a>\u201d as well as Steven Soderbergh\u2019s \u201cK Street\u201d and \u201cOz\u201d on HBO.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Los Angeles Times<\/em> raved that Smith\u2019s performance in \u201cRodney King\u201d is \u201csolo wizardry \u2026 riffing as freely and confidently as Sonny Rollins on sax.\u201d <em>The Washington Post<\/em> called it \u201cintensely cathartic and moving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Performances: 7:30 p.m. nightly Sept. 2-5 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Wrestling Jerusalem\u2019 written and performed by Aaron Davidman, directed by Michael John <\/strong><strong>Garc\u00e9s: Jan. 7-11, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWrestling Jerusalem\u201d grapples with identity, social justice and history, exploring the competing narratives at the center of the Palestinian\/Israeli conflict that has lasted generations. <em>The San Francisco Chronicle<\/em> calls it a \u201cremarkable solo performance\u201d [of] \u201cyearning beauty \u2026 deep sadness and wistful hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Performances: 7:30 p.m. nightly Jan. 7-11 and 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Mary\u2019s Wedding\u2019 by <\/strong><strong>Stephen Massicote: April 29-May 3, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMary\u2019s Wedding\u201d is a tale of young love on the eve of the Great War. The night before her wedding to another man, a girl dreams of meeting a soldier, and their blossoming love and the winds of fate that blow them apart when he goes to battle in World War I. Haunting and achingly romantic, in the words of the playwright, it\u2019s \u201ca memorial to both the Great War and Great Love.\u201d Broadway World described the play as \u201c[a] wonderfully tender, poignant story of innocent first love and the vicissitudes of fate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The production is one of PlayMakers\u2019 contributions to UNC\u2019s commemoration of the centenary of World War I.<\/p>\n<p>Performances: 7:30 p.m. nightly April 29-May 3; and 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3.<\/p>\n<p>Based in UNC\u2019s College of Arts and Sciences, PlayMakers is the Carolinas\u2019 premiere resident professional theater company.
