Special events associated with the show begin Jan. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Sparks fly when divorced, newly remarried lovers land in adjacent honeymoon suites on one glorious evening on the Riviera, igniting a timeless battle of the sexes. He later wrote, \u201cThe critics described \u2018Private Lives\u2019 as \u2018gossamer, iridescent, and delightfully daring.\u2019 All of which connoted in the public mind cocktails, repartee and irreverent allusions to copulation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PlayMakers performances will be in the Paul Green Theatre in UNC\u2019s Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road. Show times will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and\u00a02 p.m. Sundays and Saturday, Feb. 1<\/p>\n<p>Theater-goers can add to their enjoyment with special Caf\u00e9 Society seating.\u00a0For $20 in addition to the price of a Section A show ticket, a Caf\u00e9 Society upgrade includes\u00a0floor seating surrounding the stage next to the action, plus mocktails designed by The Crunkleton, and appetizers and coffee from The Weathervane at Southern Season served 1930s style.<\/p>\n<p>For a complete schedule, more information and to purchase tickets, call (919) 962-PLAY (7529) or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playmakersrep.org\/\">www.playmakersrep.org<\/a>. Tickets are also available as part of PlayMakers subscription packages.<\/p>\n<p>PlayMakers company members Julie Fishell and Jeffrey Blair Cornell will play the couple with tempestuous marital history, Amanda and Elyot. They appeared last season as Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz\u00a0in \u201cCabaret\u201d and in very different guises as Prospero and Caliban in PlayMakers\u2019 recent production of \u201cThe Tempest.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/07\/PlayMakersPrivateLivesPosterREV2resized-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7143\" alt=\"PlayMakersPrivateLivesPosterREV2resized\" src=\"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/07\/PlayMakersPrivateLivesPosterREV2resized-scaled.jpg\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u201cPrivate Lives\u201d is directed by Sean Daniels, former associate artistic director of Actors Theatre of Louisville, where he directed a record 17 productions in four years including\u00a0five Humana Festivals of New American Plays.\u00a0He has been named &#8220;One of the top fifteen up and coming artists in the U.S., whose work will be transforming America\u2019s stages for decades to come\u201d by American Theatre Magazine.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with \u201cPrivate Lives,\u201d PlayMakers will host \u201cThe Vision Series-Directors in Conversation,\u201d a behind-the-scenes preview with Daniels accompanied by designers for the play Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Paul Green Theatre. The event is free and open to the public. Participants share coffee and hors d\u2019oeuvres provided by series sponsor Jujube Restaurant, learn about the vision for the show and get a sneak peek at the sets and costumes in progress. p.m.: preview performances;<\/li>\n<li>Jan. 25, 7:30 p.m.: opening night performance with complimentary gala party afterward;<\/li>\n<li>Jan. 28: an all-access performance for attendees with special needs, with sign language interpretation and audio description;<\/li>\n<li>Jan. 29 and Feb. 2: free post-show discussions with members of the creative team;<\/li>\n<li>Feb. 1, 2 p.m.: open captioned performance;<\/li>\n<li>Feb. 8 and 9: free post-show \u201cMindplay\u201d discussions sponsored by the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Carolina Meadows and Cousins Properties Alone\u201d (Feb. 26-March 16), followed by Stephen Sondheim\u2019s Tony Award-winning musical \u201cAssassins\u201d (April
