PRC\u00b2 features innovative, topical presentations coupled with post-show discussions with the creative artists following each performance.<\/p>\n<p>Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. nightly and 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the Elizabeth Price Kenan Theatre in the Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road. Ticket prices start at $15 and may be purchased at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playmakersrep.org\/\">www.playmakersrep.org<\/a> or by calling (919) 962-PLAY (7529). Tickets are also still available as part of PlayMakers subscription packages.<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cThe Story of The Gun,\u201d Daisey, no stranger to controversy, tackles his most provocative subject yet: America\u2019s relationship with guns. Throwing easy answers and partisan bickering out the window, Daisey\u2019s performance promises to cut through the political static with his trademark blend of hilarious comedy, brilliant observation and pitch-perfect timing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/07\/PlayMakersStoryoftheGunSGPosterREV-2resized-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7095\" alt=\"PlayMakersStoryoftheGunSGPosterREV (2)resized\" src=\"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/07\/PlayMakersStoryoftheGunSGPosterREV-2resized-scaled.jpg\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u201cI programmed \u2018The Story of The Gun\u2019 this season for the same reason that I programmed \u2018Assassins\u2019 \u2014 to engage in a meaningful conversation with our community about guns and how deeply woven they are in our idea of ourselves as Americans,\u201d said PlayMakers producing artistic director Joseph Haj. \u201cWe are a nation of roughly 300 million people and 300 million guns. I think that\u2019s worthy of interrogation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PlayMakers will present\u00a0Stephen Sondheim\u2019s\u00a0 multiple Tony Award-winning musical \u201cAssassins\u201d April\u00a02-20, 2014. \u201cAssassins\u201d combines Sondheim\u2019s lyrics and music with a story of our nation\u2019s culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it, embodied by America\u2019s four successful and five would-be presidential assassins.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times calls Daisey \u201cone of the finest solo performers of his generation, and The Chicago Tribune says he \u201calways threatens to burst out of his chosen form \u2014 funny, literate and provocative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMike is one of the most clear-eyed, artistically courageous and compelling artists around,\u201d Haj added. \u201cI knew, by commissioning him to wrestle with this issue, he\u2019d create something that challenges our assumptions with scathing, hilarious and insightful observations from multiple points of view.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out this season\u2019s PRC<sup>2<\/sup> lineup will be \u201cHold These Truths\u201d by Jeanne Sakata (April 23-27). PlayMakers\u2019<b> <\/b>main-stage<b> s<\/b>eason continues with Noel Coward\u2019s comedy classic \u201cPrivate Lives\u201d (Jan. 22-Feb. 9.)<\/p>\n<p>PlayMakers is based in UNC\u2019s College of Arts and Sciences. The Drama League of New York has named PlayMakers one of the best regional theaters in America, and INDY Week calls PlayMakers the best live theater company in the Triangle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More
