\"mikedaisey\"<\/a>PlayMakers Repertory Company has announced that it is exchanging the performance dates for its productions of \u201cHold These Truths\u201d and \u201cThe Story of The Gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Due to changes in the schedules of guest artists appearing in its spring PRC2 <\/sup>second-stage shows, the world premiere of \u201cThe Story of The Gun,\u201d created and performed by Mike Daisey, will now be at 7:30 p.m. nightly Jan. 8-12 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 12. \u201cHold These Truths\u201d by Jeanne Sakata will be onstage 7:30 p.m. nightly April 23-27 and 2 p.m. on April 27.<\/p>\n

In \u201cThe Story of The Gun,\u201d Daisey takes on his most provocative subject yet: America\u2019s relationship with guns. Throwing easy answers and partisan bickering out the window, he will delve into the history of the gun and its place in America\u2019s national culture. He promises to cut through the political static with his trademark blend of hilarious comedy, brilliant observation and pitch-perfect timing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHold These Truths\u201d will be a regional premiere based on a true story. During World War II, student Gordon Hirabayashi fought the U.S. government\u2019s orders to forcibly incarcerate people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast. Hirabayashi was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Tickets are still available to both shows as part of PlayMakers\u2019 2013\/14 subscription packages, or single tickets may be purchased starting at $15. PlayMakers\u2019 PRC2<\/sup> September season opener \u201cSurviving Twin,\u201d featuring Grammy Award-winner Loudon Wainwright III, was a popular hit, selling out every performance.<\/p>\n

PlayMakers, the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is based in UNC\u2019s College of Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n
