Art graduate students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will explore issues of race, geography, time, faith, evolution and more in an exhibition opening Friday (Nov. 4) at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, \u201cDon\u2019t Be Intimidated By This Painting,\u201d will open with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday and continue through Dec. 4. Works by all 17 students pursuing master\u2019s degrees in fine arts will be represented.<\/p>\n

This is the first exhibition presented by Carolina Creates Visual Arts, a new cross-campus initiative designed to highlight and inspire creative talent. Undergraduate students in the curatorial projects class of art professor elin o\u2019Hara slavick curated the exhibition.<\/p>\n

The artists are Nicole Bauguss, Julia Gootzeit, George Jenne, Jason Osborne, Jonathan Sherrill, Stephen Taylor, Lee Delegard, Ali Halperin, Cora Lim, Neill Prewitt, Seoun Som, Ashley Florence, Michael Iauch, Chris Musina, Lauren Salazar, Damian Stamer and William Thomas.<\/p>\n

The Friday Center, at 100 Friday Center Drive, is off N.C. 54 about three miles east of the UNC campus.<\/p>\n
