\"GreenJoin PlayMakers Repertory Company’s Summer Youth Conservatory for their production of Bright Star<\/em> by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. It runs July 17-28.<\/p>\n

The production is directed by Tracy Bersley.<\/p>\n

Featuring the Grammy-nominated score by Martin and Brickell, Broadway\u2019s Bright Star<\/em> tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and \u201940s. Inspired by a real event, set in many familiar locations in North Carolina. Propelled by an ensemble of onstage musicians and dancers, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion, beautiful melodies and powerfully moving performances. It\u2019s a theatrical experience as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful.<\/p>\n

Bright Star<\/em> is the culmination of PlayMakers\u2019 Summer Youth Conservatory<\/a>, a six-week practicum for high school students \u2014 both on stage and behind the scenes \u2014 combining top-notch teaching with unparalleled practical experience. Students work with professional directors, choreographers, musical directors and theater technicians to mount a professional quality production for all to enjoy.<\/p>\n
