Folt launched\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artseverywhere.unc.edu\/\">Arts Everywhere<\/a>\u00a0in 2016. This groundbreaking campus-wide initiative invests in sustained creative practice, live arts experiences and arts learning, with the goal of making Carolina a leader in transforming the 21<sup>st<\/sup>-century liberal arts education.<\/p>\n<p>Arts Everywhere is\u00a0a strategic initiative that supports the Innovation Made Fundamental pillar of\u00a0The Blueprint for Next framework\u00a0and\u00a0also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/campaign.unc.edu\/funding-priority\/arts-everywhere\/\">a signature initiative<\/a>\u00a0in the University\u2019s $4.25 billion fundraising effort, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/campaign.unc.edu\/\">Campaign for Carolina<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Arts Everywhere app is our next step forward as we highlight the importance of the arts to Carolina\u2019s core teaching, research and service missions,\u201d said Chancellor Carol L. Folt. \u201cWe are committed to making our arts initiatives, departments and programs even more visible, and to supporting them as they continue to inspire innovation, discussion and reflection about creativity and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Arts Everywhere app, now available to\u00a0download\u00a0for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/arts-everywhere\/id1269691329?mt=8\">iPhone<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.uncapp&amp;hl=en\">Android<\/a>,\u00a0allows users to find out about all UNC-Chapel Hill arts events in one place.\u00a0The app is one of the most comprehensive university arts app and provide users with custom recommendations based on their interests. The app makes it easy to find out what is trending in the arts across campus, invite friends to events and explore new artists.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the arts departments in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences are represented in the app.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArt is not only something you see, art is something you can do, you can experience and something you can share,\u201d said Emil Kang, Special Assistant to the Chancellor for the Arts. \u201cIt fosters a discussion and a connection with people around you. This app is designed to strengthen that connection for anyone on our campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the launch of the app, the renowned and innovative tap company Dorrance Dance returns to campus for a week-long residency to include a visit to the BeAM Makerspace to create wooden taps for dance shoes and a series of exciting pop-up performances. On Wednesday, Michelle Dorrance, MacArthur &#8220;Genius Grant&#8221; winning dancer and choreographer and the company\u2019s founder, will participate in a public conversation\u00a0alongside her father, UNC Women\u2019s Soccer Head Coach Anson Dorrance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Arts Events on Campus Week of Jan. 22:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday, Jan. 22: Lunch time pop-up performance by Dorrance Dance at Top of Lenoir and an evening performance by\u00a0Isabel Leonard, mezzo-soprano in Memorial Hall<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, Jan. 23: Pop-up freestyle dance battles featuring Dorrance Dance and soccer freestyle sensation Indi Cowie around campus<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, Jan. 24:<em>\u00a0The Art of Excellence<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 A public conversation with Michelle Dorrance and
