Acclaimed British-American director Tyne Rafaeli makes her much awaited PlayMakers debut..She is joined by returning Music Director Mark Hartman.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This whole season has explored stories of transformation and sparked discussion on some of today\u2019s most important issues. What better way to end our 2016-2017 main-stage series than to be transported by a relevant, thoughtful, fresh take on one of the best known stories of transformation of all time,\u201d says Vivienne Benesch, PlayMakers\u2019 producing artistic director. \u201cIn Tyne and her marvelous creative team\u2019s hands, this production brings the complexity of Shaw\u2019s story to arresting new life while honoring the beloved musical\u2019s original frame and richness. Transformation through education, transformation through smashing down the walls that separate us, transformation through realizing we may be closer to &#8216;the other half&#8217; than we think. Approaching this iconic musical is a thrilling opportunity to widen our perspective and shine a light on some of the complexities we face in 2017.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Making their PlayMakers acting debuts are <strong>Mia Pinero <\/strong>as Eliza Doolittle (credits include \u201cWest Side Story\u201d at Broadway Rose Theatre and \u201cThe Threepenny Opera\u201d at Kasser Theatre), and <strong>Gary Milner <\/strong>as Alfred Doolittle (credits include \u201cDoctor Zhivago\u201d at Broadway Theatre and \u201cLove Story\u201d at Duchess Theatre, London).<\/p>\n<p>Returning to perform are many PlayMakers company favorites: <strong>Jeffrey Blair Cornell <\/strong>as Henry Higgins (\u201cThe Crucible,\u201d \u201cAn Enemy of the People\u201d); <strong>Ray Dooley <\/strong>as Colonel Pickering (\u201cTwelfth Night\u201d \u201cSweeney Todd,\u201d \u201cPeter and the Starcatcher\u201d); \u00a0<strong>Julie Fishell <\/strong>as Mrs. Higgins (\u201cThe May Queen,\u201d \u201cThree Sisters\u201d); <strong>Julia Gibson <\/strong>as Mrs. Pearce (\u201cTwelfth Night,\u201d \u201cInto the Woods\u201d); joining them is Triangle-favorite <strong>Jade Arnold <\/strong>as Freddy (\u201cSweeney Todd\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>The Ensemble features: <strong>David Adamson,<\/strong> <strong>Carlos Alcala,<\/strong> <strong>John Allore,<\/strong> <strong>Catherine Baird,<\/strong> <strong>Bradley Barefoot,<\/strong> <strong>Geoffrey Culbertson,<\/strong> <strong>Rishan Dhamija,<\/strong> <strong>Alex Givens,<\/strong> <strong>Jenny Latimer,<\/strong> <strong>Shanelle Nicole Leonard,<\/strong> <strong>Christine Mirzayan<\/strong> and <strong>Tristan Parks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><u>The Creative Team of \u201cMy Fair Lady\u201d<\/u>:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Tyne Rafaeli (Director): <\/strong>Tyne is a British-American director who trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Columbia University. She has directed classics, new plays and musicals in London and the U.S., and her recent credits include \u201cThe Lion in Winter\u201d at Two River Theatre, \u201cOthello\u201d at Classic Stage Company, \u201cChasing Rainbows\u201d at Godspeed Opera House and \u201cPride and Prejudice\u201d at American Players Theater, among others. Rafaeli is a 2016-18 Time Warner Directing Fellow at the Women&#8217;s Project Theatre and received the 2014 SDC Sir John Gielgud Fellowship for Classic Direction. Her upcoming productions include the world premiere of \u201cActually\u201d by Anna Ziegler at The Geffen Playhouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Hartman (Music Director): <\/strong>Mark is a musician, music director and composer whose work has been heard on Broadway, off-Broadway, and at regional theaters around the country. A UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus, he is returning to PlayMakers where he has previously served as music director for \u201cSweeney Todd,\u201d \u201cInto the Woods,\u201d \u201cAssassins\u201d and \u201cCabaret\u201d. Hartman&#8217;s credits include: \u201cSondheim on Sondheim\u201d (Studio 54), \u201cAvenue Q\u201d (John Golden Theatre, NY), \u201c1776\u201d (Roundabout Theatre Company) and \u201cPippin\u201d (Goodspeed Musicals, national tour), among others. He is the recipient of two MAC Awards and the Backstage Bistro Award for Music Direction.<\/p>\n<p>The Creative Team of \u201cMy Fair Lady\u201d also includes: <strong>Tracy Bersley <\/strong>(Choreographer), <strong>McKay Coble<\/strong>, (Scenic Designer), <strong>Andrea Hood <\/strong>(Costume Designer), <strong>Masha Tsimring <\/strong>(Lighting Designer), <strong>Anna Warda Alex <\/strong>(Sound Designer), <strong>Gregory Kable <\/strong>(Dramaturg), <strong>John Patrick <\/strong>(Voice Coach), <strong>Charles K.
