(photo by Jon Gardiner)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Join PlayMakers Repertory Company for a special matinee performance of &#8220;Detroit &#8217;67,&#8221; a gripping play that explores the themes of racial relations and social justice, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. The performance will be followed by a Carolina Conversation, \u201cDetroit \u201967 to Charlotte \u201916: Theatre sparks conversation on how we move forward.&#8221; Carolina Conversations are designed to facilitate discussions on difficult topics.<\/p>\n<p>Two College of Arts and Sciences faculty \u2014 Jacqueline Lawton, assistant professor in dramatic art and dramaturg of this production, and Perry Hall, associate professor in the African, African American and diaspora studies department \u2014 will join Philip Meyer, professor of journalism emeritus (who received a Pulitzer Prize in 1968 for his coverage of the Detroit uprisings), to lead the conversation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14759\" src=\"\/\/casdev.unc.edu\/collegearchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2016\/09\/Detroit67Web-1-243x300.jpg\" alt=\"detroit67web\" width=\"243\" height=\"300\" \/>PlayMakers is offering a limited number of free tickets to the performance to students, faculty and staff to encourage as many people as possible to see this production before it closes on Sunday, Oct 2. (Use the code\u00a0<strong>Carolina Conversation<\/strong>\u00a0at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playmakersrep.org\/\">playmakersrep.org<\/a> or pick up a ticket in\u00a0person at the Paul Green Theater after 12 p.m. on Saturday.
