{"id":14595,"date":"2016-09-15T08:17:56","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T13:17:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/college.unc.edu\/?p=14595"},"modified":"2024-07-02T16:28:58","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T16:28:58","slug":"carolina-conversations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/?p=14595","title":{"rendered":"Hogan, Sathy discuss interactive classrooms, Carolina Conversations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14596\" src=\"\/\/casdev.unc.edu\/collegearchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2016\/09\/WELL-SAID-LOGO-HIGH-RES-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"well-said-logo-high-res\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>Carolina\u2019s classrooms are changing.<\/p>\n<p>Professors Kelly Hogan and Viji Sathy are transforming theirs to be more interactive and inclusive \u2014 an effort that has helped overcome achievement gaps.<\/p>\n<p>This week, we\u2019re talking about the teaching innovation with Hogan, a senior STEM lecturer and the director of instructional innovation at the College of Arts and Sciences, and Sathy, Special Projects Assistant to the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and a senior lecturer in the department of Psychology and Neurosciences.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Hogan and Sathy\u2019s work to create inclusive classrooms will be the topic of the semester\u2019s first Carolina Conversations event on Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>An initiative launched last school year, Carolina Conversations aims to ensure that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill remains an inclusive and welcoming campus for all.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Chancellor Carol L. Folt, the event will be held at the Student Union.
