{"id":13765,"date":"2016-05-17T08:18:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T13:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/college.unc.edu\/?p=13765"},"modified":"2024-07-02T16:28:28","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T16:28:28","slug":"partnership-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/collegearchive.unc.edu\/?p=13765","title":{"rendered":"UNC Global announces 2015-16 Global Partnership Award recipients"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"stcpDiv\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_13766\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13766\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13766\" src=\"\/\/casdev.unc.edu\/collegearchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2016\/05\/Jalowska-Sediment-Station-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Anna Jalowska, a graduate student in the UNC Department of Marine Sciences, was awarded a Global Partnership Award in 2013-14 for her work with Universidade Federal do Par\u00e1 in Brazil.\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13766\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anna Jalowska, a graduate student in the UNC Department of Marine Sciences, was awarded a Global Partnership Award in 2013-14 for her work with Universidade Federal do Par\u00e1 in Brazil.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Launched in Fall 2013, the Global Partnership Awards help UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff and students sustain and develop partnerships with international institutions, with preference given to proposals that include designated UNC <a href=\"https:\/\/global.unc.edu\/global-partners\/strategic-partners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">strategic or emerging partners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A total of $20,000 is available each fiscal year for awards between $500 and $3,000. For the 2015-2016 award cycle, an average award of $1,400 was given. Funds are distributed by the Global Relations office with support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/global.unc.edu\/alumni-friends\/global-education-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chancellor\u2019s Global Education Fund<\/a>, the only pan-University, unrestricted fund that supports UNC\u2019s top global priorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have such a talented group of award recipients from across the University, working in fields as diverse as epidemiology, music and German with partners around the world in countries such as England, Kenya and Brazil,\u201d said Ronald Strauss, executive vice provost and chief international officer. \u201cThe Global Partnership Awards are one of the many ways Carolina invests in partnerships with peer
