href=\"http:\/\/gfm.aps.org\/meetings\/dfd-2015\/55f8d658b8ac311c710000bb\">UNC winners<\/a> included co-authors Roberto Camassa, Dan Harris and Richard McLaughlin in the <a href=\"http:\/\/math.unc.edu\/\">department of mathematics<\/a> and Pierre-Yves Passaggia, a postdoctoral fellow in the <a href=\"http:\/\/marine.unc.edu\/\">department of marine sciences.<\/a> The poster is titled \u201cVariable Density Vortex Ring Dynamics in Sharply Stratified Ambient Fluids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been trying to win for 15 years, and this truly demonstrates the interdisciplinary effort of the fluids lab,\u201d said McLaughlin, the mathematics department chair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UNC Joint Applied Math and Marine Sciences
