Hosted by The Parr Center for Ethics\u00a0in UNC-Chapel Hill’s College of Arts and Sciences, students will exercise their philosophical, analytical thinking and ethical muscles as they address topical issues. Approximately 1,600 students from 238 teams representing 232 schools competed in 22 regionals from September to March for a chance to compete for the national championship, making this the largest National High School Ethics Bowl to date.<\/p>\n
\n
During the two-day event, teams will compete in four rounds of competition. Cases and questions will be developed under the guidance of the Parr Center and cover a broad range of topics including \u201cGiving to Panhandlers,\u201d \u201cCheerleading and Disabilities,\u201d \u201cOffensive Lyric Sing-Alongs,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAlternative Beliefs in School\u201d and \u201cEthical Consumerism.\u201d \u00a0The performance of each team is judged on the basis of how clearly, articulately and perceptively the students develop their\u00a0positions on these topics.<\/p>\n

The National High School Ethics Bowl is supported by the Parr Center for Ethics, Squire Family Foundation, GlaxoSmithKline, UNC-Chapel Hill’s College of Arts and Sciences, the department of philosophy and BB&T Wealth.<\/p>\n
