Two UNC computer science Ph.D. students have won 2013 Google Fellowships. Only 15 of the prestigious research honors were awarded in the United States and Canada.
Yunchao Gong was awarded a fellowship in machine perception; Yinqian Zhang received a fellowship in computer security.
The Google Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science, related disciplines or promising research areas.
The recipients were chosen after careful review by Google research scientists, distinguished engineers and executives.
