Chris Musina MFA ’12 has received a prestigious grant from a foundation that supports painters and sculptors who are working on their MFA degrees.

Musina was one of 15 recipients of a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant, which aims to further recipients’ artistic careers and to help in the transition from academic to professional studio work.

Musina was born in Ontario, Canada, and received his bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of South Florida.

The $15,000 grants are given in recognition of artistic quality to artists chosen from a body of candidates nominated by the academic art community across the United States.

The foundation, which to date has awarded 192 MFA grants, was established in April 1993.
